Privacy Friendly 2048

The Privacy Friendly 2048 app is an addictive puzzle game. The game is considered to be won if you reach the number 2048 by pushing the same numbers together. It belongs to the group of Privacy Friendly Apps supported by the research group SECUSO.

This app is the optimal gadget to protect the user's privacy and at the same time playing 2048. The app can provide its full functionality without the need of any permission. Furthermore it does not use any tracking mechanisms or advertisement as other apps in the stores.

Motivation

As many apps require a lot of the users information’s and also include advertisement, we design this privacy friendly alternative to provide only the functionalities without the needless inquerement of data. Supported by the SECUSO research group, the app optimized the user's privacy during the usage.

    Restart of game after auto-rotate

    Every time I rotate my smartphone/screen (auto-rotate) the game will be restarted, i.e. the running game and score is lost. So I always have to deactivate auto-rotate before playing to avoid this (but often I forget it and often I lose my score and have to start from the beginning).

    I found this app on the Google Play Store. This guy just took your source code, added some ads in it and put it on the Store, without warning this is free software...

    As you are the owner of the source code, feel free to open a request to google here to remove this copy from the Store, if it's your wish ;)

    Don't forget to tell Google that:

    • The app is licensed under GNU GPL v3 license and this guy is violating it;
    • He is falsely claiming he made the app;
    • Provide some screenshots of your own app.

    Wrong change log (F-Drodi)

    I've currently installed the latest version from F-Droid (v1.2, 2019-03-31).

    The link to the change log (https://github.com/SecUSo/privacy-friendly-2048/blob/HEAD/CHANGELOG.md) in F-Droid ("Verweise" / "Änderungen) is dissonant. The latest version in this document is "Version 2.2.2 (2017-10-16)". ?!? "v1.2" in F-Droid but "Version 2.2.2" (with a date of year 2017) in CHANGELOG.md is rubbish.

    Resetting game when rotating

    The game begins from the beginning when you rotate your phone. This only happens when you pressed "Start New Game" in the menu. When you press "Continue Game" it just works fine with rotating.

    Wondered if there were any plans to implement the game of 243 as well, this works with powers of 3 instead of 2, and requires a line of 3 adjacent blocks to match instead of 2. Since I have played 243 I've never had a game of 2048 since!

    confirm reset

    It's too easy to accidentally hit the reset button. Would it be possible to move it up to the menu bar, or add some sort of confirmation dialogue, or both?

    I've had a 7x7 game running for weeks now, and got over 10,000,000 points, all lost... Maybe the game is trying to tell me something. 😀
