Need to take a quick note of something to buy, an address, or a startup idea? Then this is the app you've been looking for! No complicated setup steps needed, just type in what you came for. Comes with autosave, so you will not discard your changes by mistake. Supports creating multiple independent notes.

You can access the note in no time by using the customizable and resizable widget, which opens the app on click.

Contains no ads or unnecessary permissions. It is fully opensource, provides customizable colors.

    This is incredibly painful and inconvenient. I updated the app via F-Droid on my LG G4, and my entire stored note was gone. The last backup was an extended period of time ago so much data has been lost

    As in the first screenshot here (not an app I've used; I just looked up apps on gplay until I saw a screenshot that visually looked like what I'm talking about).

    From the material guidelines:

    Disambiguation: Simple dialogs display detailed options for list items or provide related actions. Simple dialogs can display the same content as simple menus. However, simple menus are preferred because they are less disruptive to the user’s current context.

    The material guidelines are just that -- guidelines; they can be broken. In this case, though, they're totally right; switching notes isn't the level of importance that requires dialog-level disruption.

    Sharing web link to app corrupts target note

    When sharing a web link through Simple-Notes, the target note gets corrupted and opening it crashes the application. The application crashes even when the note shows in the tabs upper row, not even needed to open it. Because of this, I cannot delete the corrupted notes, as to delete them I would have to open them first; and cannot open the notes next to the corrupted.

    Cursor does not initially appear in blank notes

    Steps to reproduce:

    • Create a new note

    Expected behavior: there is a blinking cursor Actual behavior: No cursor is shown, although the keyboard is open and typing works.

    Typing any letter causes the cursor to be shown, even if you then erase that letter.

    Hi My Simple Notes v.6.4.0 is constantly crashing since I added a new note with the following http link:

    I am no longer able to open Simple Notes. Is there a way to manually change the database of Simple Notes? Where are the Notes storred on my Phone?

  • Button

    Button "add new item" hides buttons to toggle checklist item

    Before posting this issue I searched but I haven't found any other issue similar to mine.

    My device

    Google Pixel 4a 5G

    The issue

    1. Create new note "Checklist
    2. Add at least 14 items to the note
    3. The button "Add new checklist items", at the bottom right of the screen, hides the buttons "❌ / ✅" of the last item

    Proposed solution

    Simply moving the button "Add new checklist items" to the header, alongside the buttons "Open note", "Add a new note" and "More".

    After trying to import the Downloads folder (which is rather big and contains a bunch of non-text files, e.g. pdfs, jpgs, m4as) the app crashes every time I try to start it. I even tried to restart, to no avail.

    the current option: export a note as a text file is awsome as I can create txt files which then I can share via bluetooth and so on. But if I have 10 note and would like to backup to move my notes to another device... please add an option to backup/export all notes and consequently to import all these into the app on another device

    New note button

    Please put the "Create a new note" option at the top of the note picker dialogue, so that the user can quickly open a new note (on startup), even if more than a dozen notes exists.

    As a side effect, this "new note" option is then no longer needed in the menu bar. So the "+" button in the menu bar can be removed, since anyway it is only shown for checklists (because there is no search button) or in landscape mode, which IMHO is really counterintuitive.

    ~Thus, also issue https://github.com/SimpleMobileTools/Simple-Notes/issues/443 could be resolved by replacing the "add checklist items" floating button with a new "+" button in menu bar.~

    Request: Bring back redo/undo buttons at top of screen

    In the recent update ( 6.14.1 -> 6.15 ), the redo and undo buttons that had appeared at the top of the screen were removed. Now when a user wants to undo/redo, they have to tap the vertical ellipsis menu button and then tap undo (or redo) for every single undo/redo. The process has become significantly more tedious due to this change.

    As an example, if a user wants to undo the deletion of a 5-character word, they have to tap the menu button, then locate undo on the drop-down menu, then tap. This sequence would have to be done 5 times. In the previous version, a user could simply tap the undo icon at the top 5 times in rapid succession (a task that would take less than a second to complete).

    For usability's sake, it would make sense to bring back those buttons.

    It would be convenient in the ToDo list mode, by selecting the necessary tasks, to be able to share only these selected tasks.

    Now there is no such possibility and it is very inconvenient. You can share the whole list or nothing else. Expand this functionality, please :)

    Biometric (fingerprint) lock on notes?

    Hey, I remember in the past I was able to lock my notes with a fingerprint, but that is no longer the case - only pattern and pin are available.

    In which version was this functionality removed and why? I'd like to downgrade the app version so I have this option again, can you tell me the last version of the app that offers it?

    Bug: Random behaviour and fails using MS OneDrive or Google Drive shared folders

    For be able to have the same list on all my devices I use MS OneDrive or Google Drive shared folders but it doesn't work well (with normal text editors it works).

    It's easy to reproduce the problem:

    • Copy the list txt file to the device's Google Drive folder.
    • Open the file from Notes - first time works fine. (BTW in the two drives is on both disks you can open the txt file with Notes easily with one click).
    • Add or modify the list (Notes says that it has been saved correctly)
    • If you use Notes immediately, I have not detected problems.
    • Close Notes.
    • Even on the same device, when you reopen Notes the list appears empty.
    • If you close and reopen the file, the list appears fine with the last modification but Drive not able to update it in the cloud

    With MS OneDrive the problem is worse because the file is not updated, even though Notes says "successful save", and when you reopen it it is the initial unchanged.

    If this works, I would also share the Shopping List with the family.
