Proof of concept of custom widgets and apps running on the Z Flip3 cover screen. Adds a widget to Z Flip3 cover screen that lets you launch a web browser-like app on the cover. Play music with Spotify, browse Reddit, watch YouTube.

No onscreen keyboard (yet)

No root required! Note - you CANNOT have Samsung Health installed at the same time as this app.

How to use

Install the app APK,

Add the widget to the cover screen in settings,

Close your phone,

Navigate to the widget,

Tap on the blank widget,

Open the phone,

Toggle the widget off and on again in settings,

Reboot your phone,

Navigate to the widget and wait for it to load,

Press 'LAUNCH' twice,

Enjoy! :)

    Browser has gone after update

    My ZFlip 3 has just updated to Android 12 and OneUI 4.0.

    The cover screen widget has vanished and I can't add it back as it doesn't appear on the widget list.

    I have tried reinstalling the latest package but no luck.

    Any advice welcomed.

    Unable to install

    Installing it normaly with the internal explorer results an error. After that I tried it with adb and with all versions but I got this error:

    I created a cover screen app also which takes the place of Samsung health (stocks), definitely not best situation. Maybe we can brainstorm to think of a work around of some sort.

    So I noticed that if you installed the voice recorder app from the Galaxy store that it has a cover screen widget is it possible to overwrite that cover screen widget instead of the Samsung Health one? Only asking because I like to use my Samsung watch.

    First release: only a proof of concept for now, but more is coming soon - unfortunately, this app is currently fairly large, as WebView does not work on the cover screen so GeckoView is required, the installation process is fairly long, and Samsung Health must be uninstalled before using this. It all works though and once the app is uninstalled and the phone is rebooted, everything will return back to normal and Samsung Health can be reinstalled.

    You'll want the app-arm64-v8a-release.apk file unless you're running this app on a device other than the Z Flip3 for some reason.

    Play Protect might flag the app because it sees it as being from a new developer. All the code is here if you want to check for anything malicious.
