Foldable ProjectView

The Foldable ProjectView is a plugin for the IntelliJ-based IDEs that lets you fold files located in the root of your project.

Available features:

Fold matching root elements of the project modules in the Project View
Enable/disable folding via Preferences or Project View options menu
Optionally fold directories
Hide empty groups
Hide all groups
Case-insensitive matching
Live ProjectView preview

Installation

Using IDE built-in plugin system:

Settings/Preferences > Plugins > Marketplace > Search for "Foldable ProjectView" > Install Plugin
Manually:

Download the latest release and install it manually using Settings/Preferences > Plugins > ⚙️ > Install plugin from disk...

Plugin based on the IntelliJ Platform Plugin Template.

Comments

Mark the plugin compatible for EAP 2022.1

The plugin is currently not compatible with the new EAP 2022.1 as it requires an earlier build. As far as I can see nothing has changed in the way plugins work so marking it as compatible should be enough.

Feature Request

Please implement the possibility to add files to a certain config file in the root of a project which defines which files/folders to hide. This will allow easy portable configuration between repositories.

Introduce multiple named folders

Introduce a possibility to create multiple named folders – not only the default one: Folded files: #, but also custom ones that you may define on your own. Each named folder should have a possibility to define its rules separately – i.e., for Gradle or Markdown files.

Support Rider project views (i.e. Visual Studio solutions)

First off, I love this plugin, so thank you for releasing it!

I use the plugin with all my personal Java/Kotlin/Rust projects in IntelliJ, but when developing Unreal Engine projects at work in Rider, the whole IDE UI freezes. I always need to kill the entire process for Rider to work again, unfortunately.

Ideally, I would be able to hide files in both the Directory and Solutions views.

It would be great if you could support this in the future 🙂

Corrections for the build and work with ignore plugin, distinct fold for ignored files

Hide ignored files functionality In IDEA 2022.2 "ignore" plugin was removed and recommended way to have the same functionality is now to install "Foldable ProjectView" plugin.

Add distinct "folder" for the ignored files, to divide it from the folded by pattern.

Tested on the latest CLion 2022.2
