Thank you for this good app. On my LG-D855 phone with CleanRom 2.5 (based on Marshmallow stock rom), using Magisk, app won't show root folder content when root permissions ( and root enabled in settings) granted.It shows root folder contents without root previlages tough.

Hey, I just updated to 6.14.4 but the vulnerability warning persists, it is also still shown on the app info page that the app is vulnerable. Am I the only one? Maybe it's something to do with F-Droid though and it just needs some time to update

In my opinion adding a pdf viewer somewhat pushes it beyond "simple" for a file manager, plus it creates a package nearly 3x larger and exposes the product to a much much larger security attack surface.

Android is designed so that applications can relatively seamlessly use each other as components so it just doesn't need mega "suite" applications that include the kitchen sink. Plus there are already very good free pdf and document viewers like mupdf and installing 6.12.3 just added another option when opening a pdf file.

Just from a design perspective I urge you to reconsider including the pdf viewer directly in this particular application, and if you do want to add a pdf viewer as part of the "Simple Tools" instead create a new "Simple Document Viewer" as a separate product?

Anyway this is just a suggestion, ultimately it's up to you.

It's the same bug as reported in Simple Gallery: https://github.com/SimpleMobileTools/Simple-Gallery/issues/2307#issuecomment-998056847. I'm reposting it, because the bug occurs for other file types, not only pictures. It makes the app unusable, since I can't perform a basic operation without creating wrong entries on my device.

As I've investigated, the bug was introduced in a version 6.11.0. Earlier releases were renaming files without issues.

It's possible to reproduce the issue on an emulator (Android 12). Just rename a file with Simple File Manager and then use the built-in Files app to navigate where the file was.

I recently replaced my Galaxy A52 5G's 128 GB microSD card with a 512 GB one. I transferred all the data from the 128 GB one to the 512 GB one using a Windows PC before putting the latter into my phone. It seems to be working fine now, except for the fact that I can no longer rename files that are on the SD card using either Simple File Manager or Simple Gallery Pro (Im using versions 6.11.3 and 6.22.3 from F-Droid, respectively). Whenever I try to do so, I get a gray pop-up message on the bottom of the screen saying "An error occurred: java.lang.NullPointerException: authority" followed shortly by another pop-up saying "An unknown error occurred". For files on internal storage, I can rename them just fine without issue. Samsung's stock file browser (My Files) also has no issue renaming files on either internal storage or the SD card. Sorry if this isn't an issue on Simple Tools' side, I'm just pretty stumped. Thanks.

Will there be support for shortcuts that collect files from the entire file system that refer to a specific shortcut, music, apk, photos, videos ... and so on?

In most Linux file managers, it is possible to create a file .hidden in directories to define files and folders, that should not be displayed, if hidden items are not to be shown. Right now this is not supported in Simple-File-Manager.

PS: This would fix another issue as well. Right now hiding an item with Simple-File-Manager renames that item to have a . prefix, which might break apps using specific paths. I think "hiding" an item should mean adding its name to the .hidden file, not renaming it.

I can't copy files from internal to usb key plugged into the phone. There is plenty of space on the usb key, and i tried with my phone's built in file manager and it worked withouth a fuss.

Before the new PDF viewer, i could just tap on the indicator of the page and scroll to a certain page especially for pdfs with a lot of pages. But with the new PDF viewer, Unless I'm missing something, i can no longer do that and have to instead scroll for a very long time which becomes very tedious, not to mention the bug with the viewer skipping or shuffling pages but there is already an issue created for it. so in short, add the functionality to jump to a certain page in a pdf.

With this latest update, the viewer will sometimes skip a page or randomly swap one page with another. For instance, if I'm scrolling several pages down, page 4 may display the first page. And then scrolling up to page 1 may display page 7 in its place. This kind of thing happens randomly/inconsistently, but often. One thing that seems to exasperate it and increase the likelihood of the next page, or the one after, being incorrect is zooming in and out of the current page for any decent amount of time.

The device this was first noticed on is a Moto G7 Supra (Power rebrand) running Android 9. I have one other device and I'll test to see if it has similar issues.

Files from hidden folders are visible in "Recents". This makes it pointless to password-lock hidden folders.

If you have a special emphasis on privacy, then this is a VERY BIG problem.

Possible solutions to the problem:

1. add a button to clear "Recents" without physically deleting files in "Recents", only clearing the list (as in FileManager+);

2. "forcibly" display files in "Recents" from hidden folders as "hidden" (regardless of whether they are "really" hidden (showing such files should be linked to the "Temporarily show hidden" function with all related operations (entering a password (if available), etc.)));

3. a combination of options 1 and 2 (THE MOST IDEAL OPTION).
